Two great biking trails, are the Norway Ridge trail on Werth Rd just south of Alpena, and the bike trail that starts on the south side of Rogers City along the lake up to Hoeft State Park.
The Norway Ridge Trail is about twice as aggressive as the Rogers City trail.
A good Hiking path is on the East side of the lake at a place called Bessers Park . This is a decent and relatively short but beautiful trail. However if you are adventurous and are packing a compass and I might suggest a hand held GPS unit you could try hiking off trail at Thompsons Harbor. Keep in mind they have plenty of decent trails that circle back, but to really get a feel for the place walking cross country can be exhilarating
